FFNM Past Virtual Workshop: What you need to know about the Healthy Workplaces Act

This workshop will cover all aspects of New Mexico’s paid sick leave law. The Healthy Workplaces Act (HWA) takes effect on July 1, 2022 and will require employers to provide employees working in the state – including part-time, seasonal or temporary workers — at least one hour of earned sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 64 leave hours per year. New Mexico employers can prepare now by reviewing sick leave and PTO policies and procedures to prepare to comply with the HWA.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the key features of the HWA.
  • Be prepared to review current earned sick leave policies and determine if they are compliant with the HWA.
  • Provide learners with opportunity to learn from peers about best practices to comply with the new requirements.
